CODE VISION
We’re helping build a sustainable game development ecosystem in Aotearoa – New Zealand, nurturing studios and people, improving skills and pathways, supporting diversity and equity.
The global game development sector is large and growing. CODE is part of an industry-wide drive towards a $1BN interactive media industry here in Aotearoa – New Zealand.
FUNDING
The aim of CODE Funding
CODE Funding supports the Aotearoa – New Zealand game development ecosystem by assisting diverse creators and studios to develop digital game prototypes, found new studios or expand existing companies’ ambitions.
CODE is funded by the Kānoa - Regional Economic Development & Investment Unit and the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE), with an explicit remit to build the capacity of individuals and entities to drive innovation, revenue and jobs in the game development sector.
CODE Funding is now available.
LEARNING
For the ecosystem to thrive, we need to nurture both industry capability and the skills of our rangatahi.
CODE works closely with its partners in education to ensure students of all ages can access teaching across a wide range of subjects that will help them get jobs in the industry. And once they’re there, we operate a programme of workshops, masterclasses, meetups and mentorship to help them improve their workplace capabilities.
GAME-CHANGING OUTCOMES
Social outcomes are an equally important part of the mix, including stronger representation of women, Māori and the LGBTQIA+ community in the New Zealand game development sector.
Through collaboration with Ngāi Tahu there is an opportunity to engage with iwi and further grow Māori gaming products and participation in the industry.
