NZ CODE has brought together 10 of Aotearoa New Zealand's latest indie games to showcase at 2026 BitSummit PUNCH!, Japan's industry leading indie game development festival in Kyoto from 22 - 24 May 2026.

Currently in its 14th year, BitSummit serves as an ideal "hybrid" event combining B2C and B2B elements. It primarily focuses on smaller independent studios, providing a distinct atmosphere compared to other events in the region. Many developers recommend BitSummit as an excellent opportunity to secure deals and support, particularly in Japan and more broadly in Asia.
Our cohort of over 20 members will be attending the BitSummit 'Business Day', and also exhibiting their games on an New Zealand-branded booth across three days, thanks to the support of myNZTE FernMark Licensing Programme.
"All 10 games were selected for market fit. New Zealand developers are currently on a launch path with their games, aiming to secure publishers, platform deals, and industry partners, as well as consumer and media coverage from the region.
The B2B networking opportunities at BitSummit, with locally headquartered platform holders like PlayStation and Nintendo, also add to its significance", says CODE's Industry Development Manager, Vee Pendergrast.
Additionally, many of our teams have been nominated for the BitSummit Awards, with winners to be announced Saturday 23 May. The games will also be taking part in the BitSummit Steam Sale.
Here's what we're bringing to BitSummit PUNCH! 2026:
The teams are assisted by CODE’s Travel Grant for international game development industry events, and continue to receive support with commercial follow ups and business opportunities following BitSummit.
Expressions of Interest for NZ CODE Round 9 Travel Grant funding will be re-opened later this year. Please check the Travel Grant Guidelines on our Funding page for more information.
