For the second year running, Chromacon in partnership with NZ CODE and Disc 2 Games, will host the New Zealand Games pavilion at WePlay expo 2025 in Shanghai, China (Nov 22-23).

Showcasing our largest lineup to date at WePlay, the NZ pavilion will present 13 indie games made in New Zealand on the WePlay expo show floor.

With assistance from seasoned ally and organiser Allan Xia of Chromacon NZ, CODE arranged for an Aotearoa New Zealand pavilion build and presence, and selected eight* studios to showcase their games at the Chromacon booth, including:

Alongside the CODE-supported titles to WePlay, Chromacon has additional support from NZ studios - Disc 2 Games, Deep Field Games, PikPok, Cookie Crayon and Astronaut Diaries.

The NZ studios will also participate in the China Indie Game Association Developer Conference (CiGADC), industry networking events, and have the opportunity to visit studios and publishers in Shanghai during the five days. The teams will be supported by Chromacon local translators, making all networking and business meetings easy and efficient.

*The teams were assisted by CODE’s Travel Grant for international game development industry events, and will continue to receive support with commercial follow ups and business opportunities following WePlay.

WePlay, established and organised by CiGA (China Indie Game Alliance) since 2017, is the largest indie-friendly gaming culture festival in China, including 300 teams from worldwide, more than 400 games, and attracting over 15,000 visitors.

Expressions of Interest for Round 8 Travel Grant funding will be re-opened in March 2026. Check our Funding page for more information.
