Seven CODE Travel Grant recipients are travelling to Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco, USA to pitch at Representing Games 2024, a MeetToMatch Flagship event.

Representing Games event actively connects game companies to key people in the industry, unlocking the creative potential of developers in the video games industry by bridging the gaps between them and buyers.

"There is a significant difference pitching at an event like GDC in San Francisco in the sheer number of potential publishing partners or investors that can be approached." says Vee Pendergrast, CODE's Industry Development Manager.

"We have a number of NZ developers who are actively on a launch trajectory with their games now, so lining up publishers, platform deals and industry partners is exactly what they are looking for".

Seven NZ-made games with potential market fit ready to pitch have been selected by CODE. Each team will have ten minutes to present a pitch-deck and a playable build with early gameplay footage.

The pitching session has already caught the attention of over 50 unique companies and including 70+ attendees.

"Over the past few years, the international market has had the opportunity to experience unique, Aotearoa New Zealand flavour in film and TV. We're looking forward to bringing some pitches with that authenticity to GDC, which will ultimately offer a different cultural experience to players across the world."
